The Las Vegas Aces star center, A’ja Wilson, won her third WNBA MVP honor on Sunday. On the other hand, Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark, who has broken many WNBA rookie records this season, acquired the fourth most votes in the 2024 MVP list. The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year led the league in assists and remained “unaffected” with her MVP voting.

Before the first round, Clark was asked about finishing the top five in the WNBA MVP voting. The 22-year-old Fever point guard received 130 total voting points in the MVP race in her rookie season, but she is locked in for the playoffs.

While asked about her latest achievement, the No. 1 overall draft pick said, “I mean, it’s cool. But at the same time, I don’t really care. My life is very unaffected by that. I have a belief that we can come in here and we can win this series.”

A’ja Wilson led the league in total points, rebounds, and blocks this season, with an average of 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 2.6 blocks per game. No other player in the WNBA has dominated like the Aces’ star this season.

Caitlin Clark’s Fever Off To A Shaky Start In The WNBA Playoffs

The Indiana Fever rookie averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game this season and broke several WNBA records. However, the Fever faced a 93-69 loss to the Connecticut Sun on Sunday in the first round. The Sun guard Marina Mabrey registered a game-high 27 points, while Alyssa Thomas recorded a triple-double.

On the other hand, Kelsey Mitchell scored a team-high 21 points with five assists for the Fever, followed by Aliyah Boston’s 17 points with 11 rebounds. Clark had a disappointing game per her standard, registering 11 points, eight assists, and four rebounds. However, the fever guard stayed confident about returning strong in the next game.

While some fans were disappointed with Clark’s playoff debut, others believed the rookie guard would bounce back in Game 2. The Fever will face the Sun at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday for their second game.
