Grateful to be alive

Christy Carlson Romano is ‘grateful to be alive’ after getting ‘shot in the face’ during husband’s birthday

Christy Carlson Romano is “grateful to be alive” after getting “shot in the face” while shooting clay pigeons for her husband’s birthday.

The Disney alum took to Instagram recently to show off her facial injuries and detail the traumatic experience of being “hit in five places” by “another party” after they “unsafely fired in the wrong direction.”

“So, I got shot in the eye. It was not fun,” she said in a video.

Romano, 40, then pointed to a bullet hole under her eye, saying, “I got shot here. It is still inside.”

She also clarified that she had “fragments” of the bullet in other parts of her face.

In the caption, the “Even Stevens” alum detailed how her husband, Brendan Rooney, “sprung into action” and took her to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas.

The “Kim Possible” alum received five injuries to the face.
Romano, who said she can see perfectly, explained that it’s “too risky” for her to undergo surgery to remove the fragment behind her eye.

“With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive,” she continued in the caption.

“I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant. .”

Her husband also took to social media to talk about the incident, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo of the “Kim Possible” alum flipping him off from a hospital bed.

“My wife gets shot, I ask to take a picture for the record, she flips me the bird and smiles (she nearly lost her eye mind you). When they say there’s no such thing as, ‘The One’ they lie,” he captioned the snap.

“I love you so much and I’m so grateful you’re safe and that you’re going to be okay. I will be by your side forever. .”

The film producer also reshared Romano’s Instagram video on his Story, writing, “Kiss your loved ones.”

Romano and Rooney tied the knot in December 2013 and share daughters Victoria, 8, and Sophia Elizabeth, 5.
