Fox News personality Lisa Kennedy Montgomery, widely known as Kennedy, recently opened up about her experience auditioning for ABC’s The View—and didn’t hold back when discussing co-host Joy Behar. During an appearance on Gutfeld!, Kennedy described Behar as a “talking hemorrhoid in an auburn wig” and criticized the show as an “unwatchable abortion.”
Kennedy revealed that she auditioned for The View in 2003 when co-host Lisa Ling departed. She shared that her audition initially went well, thanks to her chemistry with other panelists like Star Jones, Barbara Walters, and Meredith Vieira. “I got along great because Star was there. Barbara Walters was still alive—God rest her soul—she was lovely. Meredith Vieira was still there. We talked about conservative politics,” Kennedy recalled fondly.
However, her tone shifted when discussing Joy Behar. “Joy was a talking hemorrhoid in an auburn wig,” Kennedy stated bluntly, doubling down with, “She was.” She went on to describe Behar as “so ungracious and awful,” expressing surprise that someone considered a comedian relied on a writer for her jokes.
“She had a comedy writer writing her little lines during the breaks. And I was like, she’s not even funny. She’s not reacting to anything. She’s not thinking in the moment,” Kennedy said. She suggested that Behar became competitive with her because Kennedy’s natural wit and quick comebacks didn’t require a writer.
Kennedy also recalled a tense moment during the audition: “I made some jokes because it’s a conversational show—before it became an unwatchable abortion. And she said to me during the break, ‘I’ll handle the comedy here.’ I replied, ‘Great. Whenever you start, I’ll ease up on the jokes.’”
Ultimately, Elizabeth Hasselbeck filled the vacant seat on The View.
Behar, a longtime Democratic supporter, has been known for her outspoken political views. In the past, she has criticized former President Donald Trump and recently made headlines for saying she wouldn’t “give a kidney” to a Trump supporter. She has also called House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
Kennedy’s candid remarks have sparked a wave of reactions, shedding light on the behind-the-scenes dynamics of one of daytime TV’s most talked-about shows
