Lawrence Jones has officially become a co-host of FOX & Friends, as announced by FOX News Media on Thursday. The popular morning show celebrated his new role with a highlight reel showcasing his best moments as an enterprise reporter, where he traveled across the country to interview Americans in diners and other local spots. Starting September 18, Jones will join Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade on the iconic “couch” from 6 to 9 AM on weekday mornings.
During Thursday’s broadcast, Jones expressed his gratitude and excitement, saying, “Being on the couch gives you a real sense of America. We have this incredible opportunity to represent our audience every day, and I’m truly humbled. I’ll learn so much from everyone, and this is going to be an amazing journey.”
At just 30 years old, Jones makes history as the youngest Black co-host of a cable news program. Gavin Hadden, Senior Vice President of Morning Programming at FOX News Channel, praised Jones, stating, “Lawrence has always had a deep understanding of the issues that matter to communities across America. His insights have been invaluable to our audience, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the FOX & Friends family.”
The announcement was met with enthusiasm from the entire FOX & Friends team, including weekend co-hosts Will Cain, Rachel Campos-Duffy, and Pete Hegseth, as well as senior meteorologist Janice Dean and FOX & Friends First co-hosts Todd Piro and Carley Shimkus.
In a statement, Jones shared, “It’s an honor to be part of the legacy that FOX & Friends has built. This was the first national TV show I ever appeared on, and it’s a privilege to inform our audience every morning.”
Jones, who joined FOX News in 2018, will continue his role as an enterprise reporter for FOX & Friends, a position he has held since 2021. The show has dominated morning news ratings for over two decades, recently averaging 1.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. It remains the most-watched program in its time slot for the 23rd consecutive year, consistently outperforming competitors like CNN and MSNBC.
Jones previously made history as the youngest Black solo host on cable news with his show Lawrence Jones Cross Country, which aired from January 2022 until last week. The program took him across the nation to explore pressing issues and share unique perspectives. One Nation with Brian Kilmeade will now fill the 9 PM ET Saturday time slot previously held by Jones’ show.
Reflecting on his career, Jones often recalls advice from Sean Hannity: “When I first started, Hannity told me, ‘Just be LJ.’” This mantra has guided him as he continues to make waves in the world of cable news
