Caitlin Clark joins elite basketball club
With her second game of at least 29 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds while shooting over 70 percent, Clark became just the third rookie in the history of the NBA and WNBA to achieve this feat twice.
This exclusive club includes Curry, who accomplished it four times, and Jordan, who did it twice during their rookie seasons.
Clark’s current season averages of 17.6 points, 8.3 assists, and 5.8 rebounds put her on track to become the only player in WNBA history to post such numbers.
In addition to breaking numerous rookie records, she continues to set new benchmarks across the league, proving herself to be a generational talent.
The Fever star is now one of only three players in both leagues to record multiple games with at least 29 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds during their rookie campaigns.
New point milestone for Caitlin Clark
Beyond her impressive stats, Clark’s sportsmanship also shined through in the closing moments of Friday’s game.
With the shot clock winding down and victory assured, she chose to dribble out the clock rather than push for another basket, displaying the poise of a seasoned veteran.
This milestone game also saw Clark become the first rookie in WNBA history to surpass 450 points and 200 assists in a season.
She joins Sabrina Ionescu as the only WNBA players to record at least 29 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds while maintaining a 70 percent true shooting percentage in a game.
However, Clark stands alone in achieving this multiple times.
Her nine games with 20+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 5+ assists bring her closer to the WNBA record of 12 such games, set last season by Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty.
As the frontrunner for WNBA Rookie of the Year, Clark continues to lead the league in assists, needing just three more to break Ticha Penicheiro’s rookie assist record of 225.
With a significant portion of the season remaining, Clark is poised to continue rewriting the history books.
The Indiana Fever, now 12-15, will next face the Seattle Storm on Sunday, with the game set to air on ABC at 3:30 p.m. ET.
