Meghan Markle Hopes Prince Harry Won’t Bear the Burden of Legal Battles While Fighting for Better Security Protection for Their Family of Four
A former Archewell Foundation employee shared with People magazine that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, “fully supports Prince Harry” but “wants him to live in a world free from the burden of litigation, to be happy and enjoy the present.”
“Meghan wants her husband to get away from all of this, but she also knows that Harry feels he must do it for her and their children,” the former employee stated. Meghan Markle (39) has been involved in several legal battles in recent years. However, according to insiders, no issue is more important to Prince Harry than the security of his family. Stripped of police protection in 2020, Harry has been fighting since then to restore this right for himself and his family. He lost his bid to regain taxpayer-funded security earlier this year. Harry is currently planning to appeal.
Prince Harry believes that his father, King Charles, has the power to restore his security. Buckingham Palace has not commented on security arrangements, but a palace source told People that the idea of Harry’s security being in King Charles’s hands is “entirely incorrect.”
This issue has created an impenetrable wall between Harry and his father. The conversation has now shifted from frustration to “complete silence” from the king, a friend of Harry claims.
Those close to Harry say that King Charles no longer answers his son’s calls or replies to his letters.
According to the Constitution, the king has no governmental powers in the United Kingdom. The authority to grant police protection falls under the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC), acting on behalf of the UK government. Harry’s offer to pay for his police protection was also rejected by the court, leaving him feeling that, as king, his father could intervene to secure that protection.
Amid internal royal disagreements, the Duke of Sussex is deeply concerned about the safety of his wife and two children: Prince Archie (5) and Princess Lilibet (3).
“Harry is frightened and feels that his father is the only one who can do something about it,” a royal insider shared with People.
The death of Princess Diana, Prince Harry’s mother, in a high-speed car chase in Paris in 1997, has had a profound impact, especially now that he is a father himself.
“As a father and husband, Prince Harry is determined to ensure that history does not repeat itself,” the friend said.
