If LeBron James retires anytime soon, Anthony Edwards will replace him. While it’s obvious that Edwards is going to follow in LeBron’s footsteps for a long, successful career, he does not need to imitate everything.

Recently, NBA fans’ high aspiration of witnessing LeBron James was cut short. Just hours before the event, LeBron decided to sit out due to an injury. Unfortunately for Edwards, he, too, was sidelined, citing a groin injury and a cold as reasons for his absence. However, this revelation came as a massive shock for the basketball fans.

This was disappointing, given Edwards’ impressive performance leading up to the All-Star Game. Averaging 27.5 points per game and showing great all-around skills, he was poised to significantly impact the event. Instead, both Edwards and James sitting out left fans yearning for the high-stakes spectacle that the All-Star Game promises.

Edwards missed a critical opportunity to make a bigger showing that many top-ranked players are trying hard to get through. Having made the All-Star roster for the third consecutive year, fans were eager to see him play for Kenny “The Jet” Smith’s team, Kenny’s Young Stars. Unfortunately, as the team took on Charles Barkley’s Chuck’s Global Stars, they missed out on his contributions, losing the game 41-32.

Unlike other players, such as LeBron James, who communicated his injury ahead of time, Edwards kept his situation under wraps. And that did not sit well with his enthusiastic fans. The backlash from the NBA community came swift and intense.
