The Portland Trail Blazers attempted to keep Damian Lillard at the team as much as they could but the eteran point guard eevntually understood he needed to play somewhere else if he wanted to win the NBA championship at least once in his career. Father time tends to beat everybody and Dame will be no exception. But the move to Wisconsin hasn’t been what Lillard expected as he has struggled to adapt properly due to a varied number of reasons. Starting with the injuries he suffered so far, Damian Lillard hasn’t been fortunate with health while he has been part of the Milwaukee Bucks. Another aspect of Lillard’s rough adaptation period is that star Giannis Antetokounmpo also suffered an injury that kept him out of the game for months.
Damian Lillard on winning the NBA In-Season Tournament Cup: “I’ll just take the money”
What is wrong with Damian Lillard?
Those two injury issues Damian Lillard has gone through are only the smaller part of his problems. Perhaps the most important issue is the fact that he was separated from his family after he filed for a divorce. As a result of that, Lillard was also separated from his children. He went from having a family life in Portland to living as a divorced man in the town of Milwaukee. Alongside that, you can add the poor season the Milwaukee Bucks had as a collective and you can find out why so many Bucks fans have been questioning Damian Lillard’s arrival to the team. But it’s not all negative for the experienced point guard. His drop in stats is alarming but Lillard is hopeful for the new season that is about to begin.
So many rumors have surrounded Damian Lillard since he arrived at Milwaukee, many of them were related to a possible unhealthy lifestyle and party animal label. Lillard recently spoke to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and dismissed these rumors, saying: “I live a clean, good, healthy life, so I can do it. I can do the same (expletive) I did two, three years ago. I can do it right now.” Before he arrived at the Bucks, Lillard averaged 32.2 points per year but that number went all the way down to 24.3. A massive drop that is a reflection of his current situation. We won’t know if we will get the best Damian Lillard back until a new season begins.
