A Snowball Fight Erupted During Vince Gill and Amy Grant’s Christmas Show at the Ryman, as the Stage Was Decked Out in Holiday Decor, Setting the Scene for a Wild Indoor Snowball Battle with Amy Grant, Kids, and the Audience Joining in on the Fun!

Vince Gill and Amy Grant’s Christmas shows at the Ryman Auditorium have become a cornerstone of the holiday season for countless fans. Since 2008, they have brought a show packed with holiday cheer to packed crowds at country music’s Mother Church. While most fans know that both Grant and Gill have a long list of heartwarming Christmas songs in their repertoire, a recent video shows how much fun one of their shows is.

Amy Grant + Vince Gill Mark 100th Christmas at the Ryman Show

The video below gives fans who missed this year’s Christmas at the Ryman residency a taste of what they missed. The stage is covered full of beautifully decorated trees and other holiday trappings. It’s the perfect backdrop for a rousing rendition of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” complete with an indoor snowball fight. Watch Grant, a small army of kids, and the crowd get in on the snowball-throwing fun below.

Amy Grant and Vince Gill’s Christmas Tradition

Last year, Vince Gill and Amy Grant broke a Ryman Auditorium record with their Christmas residency. They celebrated their 100th show at the venue on December 22, 2023. That made them the first artists to headline the Mother Church 100 times. They likely won’t stop doing their Christmas shows any time soon.

“Where’s the 35, 40-something-year-olds who want to step up and do this? But nobody’s stepping up yet,” Grant told American Songwriter earlier this year. “So we go, ‘Well, I guess we’re still holding the baton. Alright, we’ll do it another year.’ But we just try to take it just one season at a time. It still feels like our time to be doing this,” she added.

“What is it about Christmas music? We listen to it constantly for three or four weeks and then not the rest of the year,” Grand said during last year’s opening night. “But then it comes around again. I think because we continue to return to these songs. They hold so many memories for us, for all of us. …The biggest gift that we have is being together,” she added. “The gift of each other.”
