On November 15, the boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA, became the top topic of discussion in the world. In addition to the two main characters, another person unexpectedly received great attention from the audience and became famous overnight.
That is Sydney Thomas, one of the ring girls serving in the match. Her long blonde hair, her beauty queen-like face, and her “hot” tanned body make it hard for viewers to take their eyes off Sydney.

Sydney’s TikTok account has now grown to over 845,000 followers. Likewise, her Instagram account has surpassed 500,000 followers. These are dream numbers for social media content creators, and it doesn’t look like they’ll stop there.
The match featured several other ring girls. However, Sydney was considered the standout. According to the New York Post, she is only 20 years old and a student at the University of Alabama.
“I woke up to an overwhelming amount of love and support from all of you. I can’t thank you enough or express my gratitude. I love you all. Thank you for your kind words,” Sydney wrote on her Instagram Story on November 16.
“Having the opportunity to step into the ring with Mike Tyson and Jake Paul for such a historic fight is something I never thought I would be able to achieve. Words cannot describe this moment, nor how grateful I am to be a part of such an amazing team. History was made and I am truly honored to be a part of it,” the young model shared in another post.
As Sydney said, this was a rare opportunity to go from unknown to social media sensation. Netflix, the organizer of the livestream of the fight, announced that 60 million users watched the fight marking the return of the legendary Mike Tyson to the professional ring. 72,300 people bought tickets to watch it live, generating box office revenue exceeding $17.8 million. This was the largest ticket revenue outside of Las Vegas in the history of boxing in the United States.
However, the match was also noted as a streaming disaster when the connection was choppy, even paralyzed, leading to viewers not having the best experience. Elizabeth Stone, Netflix’s CTO, admitted that the large number of simultaneous visitors posed a major disciplinary challenge for the platform. They solved it by prioritizing the stability of the stream for the majority of viewers, but a small portion of the audience was still affected. Photo: Getty Images.
Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, 58, was knocked out by 27-year-old YouTuber Jake Paul after eight rounds. While many called it a crushing defeat for a legend, Tyson said that being able to appear in the ring and make it through all eight rounds was a success for him.
