The second night of The Voice Season 27 Blind Auditions on Monday, February 10, was a thrilling spectacle, and the standout moment came from 21-year-old Britton Moore, whose soulful rendition of Coldplay’s “Yellow” earned him a coveted four-chair turn.
Moore, a San Antonio native, has always dreamed of being on the show, but he had once declined an offer to audition in his senior year to focus on his high school baseball team’s state championship. Now, making music his primary focus, Moore chose “Yellow” as his audition song, likening the lyrics to the blessings he’s been given. Having built a following on social media, he hoped a turn from the judges would validate his decision to leave sports behind and pursue music.
As soon as Britton began singing, the judges were captivated. His voice, while not overpowering, stood out with its unique indie-pop quality. He crafted the song with skillful runs and an artistic spin that set him apart. As Moore hit the soaring notes of the song, Adam Levine was the first to turn his chair, sensing a connection with Britton’s sound, both genre-wise and tonally. As the performance progressed, John Legend and Kelsea Ballerini also pressed their buttons, followed by Michael Bublé, completing the four-chair turn.
Levine, who turned early, was quick to compliment Moore, saying, “There was definitely something in your voice that reminded me a little bit about how I do it.” Legend noted how Moore’s falsetto didn’t betray him the way it does with many other singers, and Bublé praised his unique character voice, humorously contrasting it with the technical vocal skills of more traditionally trained singers. Kelsea Ballerini also made a strong case, emphasizing his potential to excel in any genre and even joking about their shared presence on TikTok, which provided a fun moment for the panel.
Ultimately, Britton Moore chose to join Team Adam, where he’ll likely thrive under Levine’s mentorship. Levine’s team had already seen success, claiming some of the top talent of the night. Team Legend also had a big night, securing a strong new member with Ari Camille, whose soulful performance of Brandy’s “I Wanna Be Down” impressed with one of the best vocal tones of the season.
While the night’s auditions didn’t hit the high energy of the premiere, Britton’s performance stood out as one of the strongest, leaving a lasting impact and setting a high bar for the rest of the season.
