Shimkus was tapped to helm the cookbook, which is now available for purchase.

She said it’s a true book for Fox viewers who want to see a different side of the people they see on TV every day.

“It’s a complete guide to all the ‘Cooking with Friends’ segments,” she said.

While the pages are lined with contributions from dozens of Fox anchors and reporters, Shimkus was able to put her own special stamp on it.

Readers will find Carley’s Corner where Shimkus wrote a bit about her relationship with the person whose recipe is shared.

While she has maintained that she is not an expert chef, she also wrote the book’s introduction and contributed photos from her lifetime of food adventures.

“It’s just those little touches that really, I love the most about this book,” Shimkus said.

‘I INDULGE’

Shimkus recalled watching Fox & Friends when she was in high school and how the cooking segment always caught her eye.

“Well, they call me ‘The Foodie’ because I just stuff my face all the time,” Shimkus laughed.

“And Fox & Friends is the perfect show to work on because it’s the only show on Fox News that does regular food segments.”

The “Cooking With Friends” segment of the show typically features a Fox anchor or reporter making their favorite meal and sharing it with viewers.

But Shimkus said it’s those in-studio who benefit most from the segment.

“There’s all this leftover food, and it’s gonna go to waste if you don’t eat it,” Shumkus said.

“So, I indulge.”

‘WE’RE GETTING FOOD TODAY’

Working with so many different personalities at Fox means Shimkus has also learned their palates.

As a result, Shimkus has bonded with her co-hosts over their tastes.

“Janice [Dean] and I are definitely big eaters,” Shimkus revealed.

Some days, the two exchange a secret code of sorts if they’re feeling especially hungry.

“There’s a diner by Fox called Flame Dine,r and I’ll just text her like, three flame emojis,” Shimkus said of her banter with Dean.

“And she’s like: ‘Oh, yeah, we’re getting food today.’”

‘REALLY FUN STUFF’

Shimkus appreciates the levity that the cooking segments can bring to the show in an often chaotic news atmosphere.

“It’s serious news and then it’s lighthearted things as well and then really fun stuff,” she said.

“And I think that the food provides moments on TV as well.”

Shimkus noted that sometimes the hosts even sense the preparation of a cooking segment while discussing serious news topics.

“You could smell it as you’re talking about foreign policy or what’s going on Capitol Hill,” she said.

“You could smell bacon simmering in the background, and it’s just a lot of fun.

“It’s just a way to let your hair down, and who doesn’t like to eat?”
