Underwood, 41, took the stage with an undeniable energy, captivating the audience as she shouted, “Nashville! We are all here for one reason — this incredible man,” referring to the late Toby Keith. Underwood, who also announced her return as a judge on American Idol, shared her deep affection for Keith when he passed away from stomach cancer in February at the age of 62. On Instagram, she expressed her sorrow, saying, “Saddle up the horses, Jesus, ‘cause a true blue COWBOY just made his ride up to heaven!!!” and reflecting on the enduring impact Keith had on those who knew him.

The concert special also includes performances by Eric Church, Brantley Gilbert, Ashley McBryde, Luke Bryan, Lainey Wilson, Darius Rucker, and many more. Each artist pays tribute to Toby Keith’s iconic songs, with highlights including Church’s rendition of “As Good as I Once Was,” and Gilbert and HARDY’s take on “How Do You Like Me Now?!”

Keith’s daughter, Krystal Keith, will also perform a special tribute, as will several other stars like Brett Favre, Trace Adkins, and Parker McCollum. A portion of ticket sales will benefit The Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral, a cost-free home for families of critically ill pediatric patients, and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, a top children’s hospital in Nashville.

Keith’s legacy is immense, having recorded 42 Top 10 songs, 33 No. 1 hits, and sold 44 million albums. As Underwood and the rest of the country music community come together to honor him, it’s clear that Toby Keith’s influence will continue to inspire for years to come.
