For new songs, Andrea Bocelli and his daughter Virginia have reunited.
The song “Dare to Be,” which will appear in the upcoming movie Carni, was published on Friday by Andrea, 65, and Virginia, 11.
For the heartfelt song, the couple also produced a music video in which scenes from the film play while Virginia, whom Andrea shares with her wife Veronica Berti, sits on her father’s lap and in the recording booth.
“We dare to free / Visions unseen / New worlds beyond me / Sea to shining sea / With us we bring,” Virginia sings on the track. “A voice that sings / Forgotten harmonies / Even the darkest night / Beholds the light that guides you.”
“’Dare To Be’ captures the spirit of Francesca Cabrini, who spent her life bringing light and hope to those who were living on the margins,” Ryan Svendsen, Head of Music for Angel Studios, said in a statement.
Svendsen continued, “She Dared To Be, and then, with incredible faith and tenacity, turned her dream of an Empire of Hope into reality. We are honored to have the musicality of Andrea Bocelli and Virginia Bocelli whose stunning vocals in this beautifully crafted duet amplify the embodiment of Cabrini’s essence within this incredible film.”
The Italian tenor shared the news on his Instagram Friday, alongside a clip of the music video.
“I am delighted to announce the release of my new single ‘Dare to Be’, recorded with my daughter Virginia,” he said.
He continued, “This song is taken from the motion picture Cabrini which tells the story of famed Roman Catholic missionary and future Saint Francesca Cabrini. It is an ode to the power of belief and perseverance, I hope you enjoy it.”
Cabrini, which will feature Virginia’s acting debut, is centered around a woman’s fight for “equality, health, and happiness of disenfranchised immigrants,” according to the release. The film will release internationally on March 8.
In October 2022, Virginia, Andrea and son Matteo caught up with PEOPLE about their collaborative holiday album, A Family Christmas. At the time, Virginia said she grew out of her fear of singing for large audiences thanks to the advice from the musicians in her family.
“My dad taught me how to use my voice, and that influenced my life,” said Virginia. “And Matteo told me, ‘You should sing and do everything with no regret.’”
Meanwhile, Andrea described his daughter as “the true embodiment of music as experienced through the eyes of a child, as pure joy.”
