Gwen Stefani is singing her husband Blake Shelton’s praises with a sweet throwback memory she shared while promoting her latest album, Bouquet.
As part of Today‘s Citi Concert Series, on Monday, January 20, Stefani tackled eight questions for viewers, ranging from who her musical inspiration is these days (old school throwbacks from her childhood and the new country artist Zach Top) to her favorite type of flower arrangements (wedding bouquets).
But her biggest reveal came when asked her favorite season of The Voice.
“The season I got to kiss Blake,” she gushed.
While it was a simple response, there’s a lot of history behind it — some of which Stefani, 55, used as fodder for her new album.

The “Just a Girl” singer and Shelton, 48, met in April 2014 while working together as judges on Season 7 of the NBC singing competition. Shelton’s marriage with Miranda Lambert officially ended over a year later, in July 2015, and Stefani settled her divorce from Gavin Rossdale toward the end of October that year.
Rumors that the pair had begun dating were confirmed just a short time later, on Halloween weekend 2015, when the pair were photographed together after celebrating the holiday with several famous friends, including George Clooney and Jared Leto, Entertainment Tonight reported at the time.
Just this past Halloween, Stefani shared a series of throwback photos on Instagram of the special night — she in a cowgirl costume with blood on her face next to a plaid-shirted Shelton — along with other shots, including a field of marigolds. Stefani captioned the 2015 photos with what fans now know are lyrics from the song “Marigolds” on her new album describing the beginning of her romantic relationship with Shelton, who she married on July 3, 2021.
The Grammy Award-winning singer wrote: “met u in October i had nothing to lose/dressed up like a country girl i knew you’d approve/knew i had to kiss you on the Halloween moon… ♡ gx”
She even sang the words in a teaser included in the post.
Stefani has said that coupling up with the “God’s Country” singer was a pleasant and completely unexpected surprise.
“I didn’t see any of this coming with Blake,” she told People in 2023. “This was just a big old ‘What?’ It was an amazing gift to experience love like that for the first time.”
“He’s changed my life,” Stefani noted, explaining that when she and Shelton first started dating, she “felt home.”
