Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has nothing but admiration for his best friend Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift. While Mahomes is well-known for his football prowess, fans have been curious about what it’s like to be friends with the superstar pop artist. In a recent interview with TIME Magazine, Mahomes was asked about his career, his goals, and yes, about the highly popular Swift, who has been spotted at many Chiefs games throughout the recent NFL season. Swift, who is currently dating Kelce, has also become close with the Chiefs “WAGs” (wives and girlfriends), including Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.

Throughout this season, Swift and Brittany have been seen cheering on the Chiefs together, often sporting matching Kansas City outfits while sitting in a VIP box. In the TIME interview, Mahomes described Swift as someone who has remained humble and “down-to-earth” despite her immense fame.

As Mahomes told TMZ, “I’ve met a lot of famous people now in my life. Taylor’s probably the most down-to-earth person that’s been on that stage for that long.” He went on to explain how Swift is constantly working, saying, “Even when she’s taking her downtime, she’s working on something—shooting a music video, singing a song, or writing a song.”

Mahomes also noted how Swift’s business acumen shines through, even when she’s talking about football. “You can see it by how she talks. Even when she’s talking about football, when she’s learning it, you can see her business mind putting it together,” he explained. “It’s almost like she’s trying to become a coach. ‘Why can’t you try this, this, and this?’ She’s asking the right questions.”

The quarterback also addressed rumors that surfaced in late 2023, which suggested that Swift’s presence at games and the resulting media attention were distracting for the team. According to Mahomes, the Chiefs have embraced the added visibility. “We just embraced it,” Mahomes said. “We like having that visibility. At the end of the day, football has always been this bruising sport. We want to make it fun, where kids grow up and play football and show their personality and be who they are. This year really magnified that.”

Swift’s relationship with the Kelce family has been positively received, as demonstrated by Kylie Kelce, who is married to Jason Kelce.
