Sean Duffy and Rachel Campos-Duffy Share Heartfelt Photo of Newborn Daughter, Valentina, with Heart Disease and Down Syndrome
Former Wisconsin Congressman Sean Duffy and his wife, television personality Rachel Campos-Duffy, have shared a touching moment with their followers as they introduce their ninth child, a baby girl named Valentina StellaMaris Duffy. Born on October 1, Valentina arrived a month early and has already captured the hearts of her parents and siblings alike.
Rachel Campos-Duffy posted a photo of Valentina on Instagram, showing the newborn swaddled in blankets with a tube inserted in her nose, indicating her current stay in the NICU. In a heartfelt caption, she expressed her immense love for her daughter. “Meet Valentina StellaMaris Duffy. She is the sweetest, most perfect thing we have ever seen. It’s a wonderful life!”
In a separate Facebook post, Rachel shared more about Valentina’s condition. She revealed that the baby was born with a heart defect, including two holes in her heart and valves that need surgical correction in a few months. Additionally, Valentina was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, having an extra chromosome, which Rachel humorously referred to as what makes her “extra cute.”
Rachel updated her followers about Valentina’s progress, explaining that she is still in the NICU, learning to eat on her own. Despite the challenges, the family is optimistic. Rachel also shared a glimpse of family life at home, where Valentina’s older siblings eagerly fight over who gets to hold her.
“Valentina is doing great, though still in the NICU until she learns to eat on her own,” Rachel shared. “When we visit with her at the hospital, the kids fight over who can hold her – I don’t blame them! She’s the sweetest, most perfect angel we have ever seen.”
Rachel also expressed gratitude for the prayers and support they’ve received during this difficult time. She added that Valentina would need heart surgery in 3-4 months to address the congenital heart defects. Despite these obstacles, Rachel’s post radiated positivity and love, declaring, “Life is wonderful!!”
In a powerful message about family and priorities, Sean Duffy had previously announced that he was stepping down from his role as U.S. Representative for Wisconsin’s 7th District. The decision was made after learning of Valentina’s medical needs. Sean explained, “With much prayer, I have decided that this is the right time for me to take a break from public service in order to be the support my wife, baby, and family need right now.” His resignation reflected his commitment to prioritizing his family at this crucial time.
The couple’s journey to parenthood has been filled with love, faith, and support from their eight other children: Evita Pilar, Xavier Jack, Lucia-Belen, John-Paul, Paloma Pilar, MariaVictoria Margarita, Margarita Pilar, and Patrick Miguel.

As Valentina begins her journey, the Duffy family stands strong, united by love and faith.
