Shock as Young Rockstar Olly Pearson Receives Golden Buzzer on BGT – But What Happened When He Returned to School Will Leave You Stunned!

A PRIMARY school has cheered on one of their own this week as young rockstar Olly Pearson received a golden buzzer at his Britain’s Got Talent audition.

Britain's Got Talent airs another incredible Golden Buzzer act

The talented 11-year-old impressed the four judges on March 8 and will go straight through to the talent show’s live semi-finals next month.

Olly has thanked the public after receiving overwhelming support and praise from his hometown of Wrexham, including his school, Abermorddu Community Primary School, on the Wrexham/Flintshire border.

He returned to crowds of students and staff on Monday cheering him on, just two days since his audition was broadcast on the ITV show.

Banners were also displayed proudly on the school fence while students created a Guard of Honour for Olly to walk through as he entered the school gates.

Inside, the classrooms were filled with balloons and banners, as well as the school hall where a special assembly was held for him.

Talking to the Leader, Year 6 teacher Charlotte Cumberlidge said: “We all watched his audition together and the children were cheering ‘Push the Gold’! It was a fantastic moment! We finished the assembly with Olly sharing his audition story with us!

“Olly has played the guitar for many years so the children throughout the school have always been aware of his talent and love it when Olly plays in school. They are always so enthusiastic and enjoy watching Olly play.

“Some of the pupils were inspired to play other instruments and sing along with him playing the guitar at some recent events in school. This is always lovely to see when the children can inspire each other. Lots of the children do look up to Olly and think he is pretty cool!! The children have enjoyed hearing his stories of auditioning for different things and playing at gigs and different events.”

Olly was taught how to play the guitar from the age of 7 by his grandad, Lee Hughes. His excitement and enthusiasm for music has always been shared with the school, and as his confidence continued to grow, he’s played in various school events; from Macmillan coffee mornings to school fayres.

“Olly is a polite young man”, Mrs Cumberlidge added. “He’s kind and caring towards his friends. He is a great member of his class, who gets along well with pupils and staff alike.

“Olly works hard and is motivated in many aspects of school life. As you can see from his guitar playing he is a very dedicated person and will perceive. He likes the creative side of things and is also sporty in school. Outside of school he plays cricket and is part of a local team.”

Like everyone watching the audition, the students and staff at Abbermordu Primary were elated with pride.

“It was an incredibly proud moment for us as a school as well as being very emotional.

“We felt a mixture of nerves and excitement as he spoke to the judges at the start. Once he started playing we could see him shine and it was just amazing. For him to then go on and receive the Golden Buzzer was unbelievable.

“The children from his class were all messaging him and on return to school all you could hear from the children was talk of Olly being on Britain’s Got Talent and the Golden Buzzer!!”

Olly’s parents have also expressed their pride and thank the community of Wrexham for supporting his talent.

Watching the video of Olly returning to school, mum Sarah Pearson said: “The welcome back was just wonderful for Olly. I’m finding it impossible to stop crying. I literally still can’t believe all that has happened.

“Olly had a wonderful day and told us how the whole school watched the replay of his audition which aired on Saturday night. He came home with beautiful gifts and memories that will last forever.

“Thank you so much for all your kindness and support. It is well appreciated and we are just so overwhelmed with everything.”
