The Indiana Fever are currently battling against the Connecticut Sun. They went into the game with an 11-game losing streak against the Sun, going 0-3 versus Connecticut this season.
Indiana started the game on the right foot, leading the Sun 33-26 after the first quarter and 51-42 at the half.
Despite the successful first half for the Fever, fans are worried about Caitlin Clark’s play. Many fans commented on social media, mentioning that Clark’s careless turnovers on the offensive end and lack of defensive effort have plagued the rookie.
Heading into the locker room at half time, Clark recorded 10 points, three assists, and two rebounds. Each of those stats were quite solid to start the game, but five turnovers at the half doesn’t cut it for WNBA fans.
“Clark is not a point guard, they need to move her to her true position at the 2 and have E Wheels or Mitchell at the point,” commented one fan “Her turnovers are horrible.”
“Caitlin Clark needs to settle in, these turnovers are ridiculous,” said another fan. “Yes you live with some, but 5 at the half is seriously inexcusable.”
“Big fan of Caitlyn Clark but some of these turnovers are terrible.” mentioned one fan.
“I actually think Clark generally plays better when she has more turnovers,” explained one fan. “Speaks to her mentality. The lazy ones are the issue.”
“Caitlin Clark in the WNBA is like watching Steph Curry on a bad day,” mentioned one fan. “Sloppy turnovers mixed with overambitious 3 pointers.”
“Caitlin Clark is a turnover machine.” said one fan.
“Definitely was not a good half by Clark, terrible turnovers,” said another fan. “The team saved her.”
The rookie leads the league in average turnovers per game, coming into the matchup with 5.5 turnovers per game. While she’s a young player in the WNBA, Clark is held to a higher standard after being picked No. 1 overall in 2024.
Fans haven’t just mentioned a problem with Clark’s turnovers, but they believe she gives up on the defensive end as well. There hasn’t been any viral clips on her defense, but it seems to be a growing conversation on social media.
Clark may having some difficulties, but she’s still been sensational in her rookie season.
The rookie has averaged 18.0 points, 8.2 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game. Once she’s able to take some time and clean up these ongoing issues, the WNBA should be worried about Clark’s versatility.
