Angel Reese continues to shine in her rookie season with the Chicago Sky, despite the team’s recent struggles.
Reese’s new WNBA double-double record
On Sunday night, Reese achieved a significant milestone, becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to record 20 career double-doubles.
The record was set during the Sky’s 86-68 loss to the Phoenix Mercury, where Reese delivered a standout performance with 19 points and a career-high 20 rebounds.
Reese’s performance marked her fourth consecutive double-double, a streak that dates back to the final game before the Olympic break.
While the Sky have found themselves in a tough spot with a 1-2 record since the break, Reese’s consistency on the court has been a bright spot for the team.
Chicago Sky relying on Reese for playoff push
The game itself was a challenging one for Reese, who struggled to find her rhythm early on.
However, she improved her efficiency in the second half, finishing with an 8-of-16 shooting performance, marking her first game shooting 50 percent or better since July 7 against the Seattle Storm.
Reese’s historic achievement came in just 27 games, underscoring her impact as a rookie in the league.
Averaging 13.6 points and 12.3 rebounds on 39.8% shooting this season, she has quickly become a foundational player for the Sky.
While her efficiency remains an area for improvement, her ability to consistently contribute in both scoring and rebounding makes her a key piece for the team’s future as they aim for a playoff push.
