Clark aпd Reese have both emerged as top rookies iп the leagυe
ESPN pundit Monica McNutt drew some pushback when explaining why the money
-Chicago Sky director Angel Reese was chosen as WNBA Rookie of the Year instead of Caitlin Clark
by Indiana Fever.
“My Rookie of the Year will be based on the standings because I think that’s how you have to measure it,” McNutt said.
Measuring impact”. “And Sky are in the playoffs now, so, in my opinion, you have to nod
first with Angel Reese.”
McNutt also pointed out Reese’s double-double record of 11 while she was speaking on the show
ESPN. She also pointed out that the team lacked All-Stars when Reese was selected.
When he arrived in Indiana, McNutt said Fever already had a foundation. Aliyah Boston is the number 1 pick of the season
previous award and the 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year, and Kelsey Mitchell averaged
almost 20 points per game.
But fans tuned in to the WNBA this season because of Clark and Reese
disagreed with McNutt’s arguments and expressed as much on social media.
Since McNutt’s comments, Clark has become the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double
while Reese extended his double-double streak to 12 games.
As of Sunday, both teams were in the top eight in the WNBA standings and should make it
knockout round.
