Taylor Swift Doesn’t Hold Back Thoughts On 49ers Quarterback Brock Purdy
Taylor Swift has made several songs that could be adapted into films or television shows, but there are few stories as unbelievable as the life of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.
Purdy’s NFL journey began in the most unusual of ways, as he was taken with the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Coined “Mr. Irrelevant,” Purdy entered the season simply hoping to make San Francisco’s roster.
After a number of weeks, Purdy was forced into action as the team’s starting quarterback following injuries to both Trey Lance and Jimmy Garroppolo. Purdy led the 49ers to the NFC title game in his first season, suffering an elbow injury that knocked him out of the penultimate game of the year.
After returning in 2023, Purdy would lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl, where they would lose to Swift’s favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
After seeing Purdy compete in the Super Bowl and during this NFL season, Swift gave her own assessment of the 49ers star quarterback.
During Swift’s appearance at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, a young fan asked her about the song “Paper Rings,” and whether it was about Purdy after he failed to win a real ring against her Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
“I mean I don’t mind Brock Purdy, but … he put me through a lot last February,” Swift said, realizing what the child meant and answering her question. “I was very stressed for a second.”
Swift’s young fan then responded by saying she liked Travis Kelce, and Swift agreed. “Me too. That’s an absolute yes on that one.”
The good news for Swift and the Chiefs is that if they make it back to the Super Bowl this season, they likely won’t need to be concerned about seeing the 49ers once they get there.
San Francisco is all but out of the NFC playoff picture after their loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday, meaning that we’re likely to see a new NFC champion this year.
The Chiefs have beaten two different teams in the last two Super Bowls, and they’ll gladly take down a third if it means another Lombardi trophy for Kansas City.
