Caitlin Clark opens up about all the pressure and struggle, and how she surpass expectations as WNBA’s top assist leader

In her first season with the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark has emerged as one of the most electrifying players in the WNBA, surprising everyone-including herself-with her league-leading assist numbers.

As the Fever close in on the final stretch of the regular season, Clark‘s impact on the court has become impossible to ignore. Indiana, once considered a long shot for the playoffs, is now firmly in the race, thanks to a recent surge where they secured four victories in five games. This remarkable turnaround has put them in a position to end a seven-year absence from postseason play.

Clark‘s ascent in the WNBA has been nothing short of remarkable. Not only has she broken the record for most assists by a rookie in a single season, but she also recently earned the Associated Press Player of the Week honors. During that standout week, she delivered averages of 26.0 points, 9.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds, highlighting her versatility and leadership on the court.

Despite her success, Clark remains grounded. “Honestly, if someone told me I’d be leading the league in assists as a rookie, I would have thought they were joking,” she shared, reflecting on her unexpected rise to prominence.

With an average of 8.3 assists per game, Clark has consistently been at the heart of the Fever’s offense. Over the last two games alone, she amassed 19 assists, nearly making history by becoming the first rookie to achieve 10 or more assists in three consecutive games.

Clark has been breaking records all season

One of the defining moments of Clark’s season occurred on July 17th against the Dallas Wings, where she set a WNBA record with 19 assists in a single game. This extraordinary performance not only shattered records but also underscored her potential to shape the future of the league. As her rookie year progresses, the buzz around her potential Rookie of the Year award grows louder, a testament to the incredible impact she has made in such a short time.

Caitlin Clark’s rookie season is far from ordinary; it’s a story of breaking barriers, redefining expectations, and leading a franchise back to prominence. As the playoffs approach, all eyes will be on Clark to see if she can continue her historic run and lead the Fever to their long-awaited postseason return.
