Julie Newmar just turned 91 years old, but she is still embracing her sexy Catwoman ways. On her birthday, she posted a close-up photo of herself with glittery makeup and wrote, “91 — just another birthday. To my beloved friends, family and foundlings (past and future). You are my gift.”

Born in 1933, Newmar has had a very successful career and dabbled in stage shows, TV shows, movies, real estate and much more. She is known for being the original Catwoman in the 1960s Batman series and reprised her role as the voice of Catwoman in the newer Batman animated series. She is also known for the film To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, in which she makes a cameo.

Before she began acting, Newmar was a dancing queen and performed as a prima ballerina with the Los Angeles Opera when she was just 15 years old. She soon started dancing in films and worked as a choreographer for Universal Studios. Her first major role was in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers as one of the brides. A year later in 1955, she made her Broadway debut in Silk Stockings. She is best known as Catwoman, which launched her into TV fame and secured her role as a sex symbol.

Newmar made appearances on some top classic TV shows, including The Love Boat, Melrose Place, CHiPs, Fantasy Island, The Bionic Woman and Hart to Hart. While continuing to act, she began investing in Los Angeles real estate in the 1980s and is credited with improving several neighborhoods. Some of her more recent roles include voicing Catwoman in Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders and Batman vs. Two-Face.

As she continues to age, her career has slowed down but she is still friendly with her fans. She is quite active on social media, posting throwback photos, and was seen at the Hollywood Show this year signing autographs while wearing cat ears. In her personal life, she has been romantically involved with novelist Louis L’Amour, comedian Mort Sahl and actor Ken Scott. She was married to lawyer J. Holt Smith from 1977 until 1984. They had one child together named John Jewl Smith, who has Down syndrome. Newmar may have also slowed down her career due to Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a rare neurological condition that country singer Alan Jackson also has.
