Triathlete pleads with cameraman not to film her from behind after ‘s**tting’ herself moments before finish

A moment where a triathlete told the cameraman not to film her behind after she soiled herself has done the rounds over the weekend.

Completing a triathlon might be up there with one of the most challenging and physically demanding things that a person can do in sport, and it’ll come as no surprise to know it comes with many other issues along the way.

No, I’m not talking about injuries or dehydration, I mean something slightly more embarrassing than that.

It’s exactly what Olympic triathlete Taylor Knibb had to go through when she was on the back-end of her race.

The American has competed at the games twice, including this summer, bringing home a silver both times in the mixed relay event.

Knibb is known as one of the world’s best triathletes, reaching the pinnacle of her career on Saturday (16 November), as she took first place in Dubai following wins in San Francisco, Ibiza and Las Vegas this year.

It meant that she won the inaugural T100 world championship, as a second placed finish in Dubai would also have secured the title – though she signed off with a victory.

Cementing your place in history as a world champion with another triathlon win is no easy feat, though she managed to show why she was the best in a commanding final 18km run.

As tensions ran high, all eyes were on her as the camera panned her way, with the 26-year-old fighting the punishing 31-degree heat.

However, Knibb showcased that even the best aren’t exempt from one of the common occurrences of these demanding long-haul races due to the stress it puts on all aspects of the body.

Speaking to the cameraman as it filmed her labouring to the finish line, she asked: “I just s**t myself… can you not get my a**?”

Newcomers often find themselves suffering from the bodily malfunction, but if the world’s best is going through it, maybe it’s more common than we thought.

Following her request, the cameraman stayed filming her top half, as Knibb went on to finish strongly, in what would become the viral clip of the weekend.

It turns out that she wasn’t feeling the best going into the race, and swimming two kilometres followed by cycling another 80km didn’t do much after waking up ‘rough’.

“I woke up and messaged my coach that I feel rough. I was like, ‘Oh this is going to be a bad day’,” she admitted.

Knibb added: “I was kind of shocked, it only came together in the last 3km but it was brutal out there,

“I think it was more physical (than mental today). That was easier as you don’t have to deal with your body.”
