In the inaugural episode of her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” WNBA rookie and former LSU Tigers star Angel Reese delved into various personal and professional topics.

She discussed her first season in the league, addressed rumors of a ‘beef’ with fellow rookie Caitlin Clark, and responded to speculation about her dating life throughout the year.

Reese also opened up about her relationships with two former LSU teammates, Flau’jae Johnson and Hailey Van Lith. She revealed that her once-close friendship with Johnson has faded, though there is no animosity between them.

Why did Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson fall out?

“We aren’t as close as we used to be,” Reese said about Johnson. “There are no hard feelings, but things have changed. People expect us to still be posting about each other, but relationships evolve. It happens.”

Reese explained that while their bond isn’t what it once was, she remains supportive of Johnson‘s career. “I wish her the best always, and I’ll continue to support her. But we’re not as close as before.”

On the other hand, Reese shared a positive reflection on her connection with Hailey Van Lith, who joined LSU for the 2023-24 season after a successful stint at Louisville. Initially, Reese said they weren’t particularly close, but she made an effort to get to know Van Lith better.

“I was probably one of the closer people with her on the team,” Reese said. “She was more distant from everyone else, and I didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable, especially since she was the only white girl on the team.”

Even though Van Lith transferred to TCU after the season, Reese emphasized that they remain on good terms. “I love Hailey. We still text, and I’m so happy for her at TCU.”

While Reese’s friendship with Johnson has shifted, her connection with Van Lith remains strong.
