When you build as much social influence as rockstar WNBA rookies Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, people expect to hear your opinion on everything. With the 2024 Presidential Election heating up, the basketball stars are facing uncomfortable questions, which has unexpectedly left Reese on the same side as Caitlin Clark.

Angel Reese aligns with Caitlin Clark

Reese and Clark’s rivalry on the court, which dates back to college, is as hot as ever as they prepare for the third WNBA matchup between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever on August 30. It will be their first head-to-head contest since they played together for the WNBA All-Star team.

Off the court, the two polarizing stars were never at odds with each other in the way the media portrayed it. Now, they have more in common than ever, with Reese clearly taking a page out of Clark’s playbook when it comes to dealing with the media.

Caitlin Clark learned early that she can’t control the narratives about her and that she was better off staying out of it and off social media. That became even more clear this week when a simple Instagram story by her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, sparked political controversy among WNBA fans.

Angel Reese delivers opinion on 2024 election

Although Reese is never usually one to hold her tongue, she decided Clark’s “stick to sports” strategy in the media would be a wise response when a reporter asked her about her feelings on Kamala Harris running for President as a woman against republican candidate Donald Trump.

She admitted she hasn’t been able to “tap in” to the 2024 election. The 22-year-old described herself as “not that educated” on either candidate and refused to offer an opinion. However, she urged people to go out and vote, stating “we need it for this election.”

“I also respect this!” said a popular response to the video on X, formerly Twitter. “When someone doesn’t have an informed opinion and they’re honest about it that’s something to admire. Too many famous people just spout nonsense without any clue.”

“Regardless of who Reese is voting for she handled that perfectly. Kudos to her!” echoed another highly-liked comment.

Aware of her platform, the video of Angel’s measured reply gained nearly 4 million views on X alone. Reese and Clark have the top two selling jerseys in WNBA this season, proving that their influence is immense, and they must continue to understand how and when to use it.
