Team USA came out on top on Saturday, defeating France in their home country and taking the gold medal. Behind an invincible LeBron James, a smooth Kevin Durant and an electric Stephen Curry, Victor Wembanyama‘s squad couldn’t hold on against one of the best national teams we’ve seen in recent times.
The emotion poured out from the players as soon as the clock hit double zeroes. Curry posted a video on social media with some of his teammates after it was over. He was first joined by Anthony Edwards, who couldn’t help but mention Curry’s incredible three-pointer late in the game over two defenders.
Stephen Curry celebrates winning gold with Anthony Edwards and USA teammates
Curry celebrated with his signature move, but Edwards believes he should have taken it a step further: “You know what you should’ve did? You should’ve pointed at both of them.” Curry then admits he should have done exactly that, although that may have been too much.
Stephen Curry wears “nuit nuit” shirt after beating France in basketball gold
Curry was also spotted after the game with a “nuit nuit” shirt, which stands for “night night” in French. Curry’s signature celebration after a big three is an homage to that phrase. Sydel Curry-Lee, Steph’s sister, is the one who shared the picture of him wearing it.
Curry will now prepare for what will stunningly be his 16th season in the NBA. He doesn’t have a ton of years left, but he’s clearly still elite in every aspect of the game. He’s not going away just yet.
