Caitlin Clark’s alleged stalker appeared in court on Tuesday in Indianapolis in what was a bizarre hearing.

Michael Thomas Lewis declared himself “guilty as charged” before a judge entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf. The declaration wasn’t the only eyebrow raising moment, as Lewis’s erratic behavior was highlighted by several outbursts.

Dressed in an orange jumpsuit, Lewis’ outbursts resulted in him receiving multiple warnings to stop interrupting the hearing.

At one point he told the courtroom that “you got the wrong guy” after noticing there was no “Jr.” attached to his name. He also asked that they “throw me the booky” at one point.

Lewis is charged with stalking, which is a Level 5 felony, after targeting Clark with numerous disturbing posts on X that were posted over the last month.

As per Fox59 News anchor Angel Ganote, authorities in Indianapolis first spoke with Lewis on January 8 after discovering that a series of disturbing posts directed that were sent to Clark came from IP addresses while he was staying a hotel on N. Market Street.

During the conversation he reportedly told cops that he was in an “imaginary relationship” with Clark. He was arrested over the weekend after he continued to send messages to Clark.

Lewis sent Clark a series of posts

Looking at Lewis’ X account, he began sending Clark posts on December 16. While the posts didn’t make all that much sense, they were innocent at first.

Then on December 27 he posted: “this fantasy caitlin relationship is changing me for the better. . And about an hour ago i felt strong caitlin feelings. .like sensual. .wow.”

A day later he implied that he was facing stalking charges in another post directed at Clark: “i already have one foot on a banana peel and the other on a stalking charge. . So i wont be able to wear ur hoodie. .wont look good in court.”

‘@CaitlinClark22 im gonna touch myself,” read a post on December 31. “Not if but just when baby.”

The posts became more sexually threatening with time, with Lewis writing “i am ur slave. so work me out” and “@CaitlinClark22 ur not into sex are u? just video games and sports” on January 12.

Clark later reported Lewis to authorities, with Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears praising for coming forward and “setting an example for all women.”

“No matter how prominent a figure you are, this case shows that online harassment can quickly escalate to actual threats of physical violence,” Mears said. “It takes a lot of courage for women to come forward in these cases, which is why many don’t.

“In doing so, the victim is setting an example for all women who deserve to live and work in Indy without the threat of sexual violence.”
