Watching Clark and Reese’s season opener more expensive than the NBA
Since their college days, when one played at Iowa and the other at LSU, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese built a fierce (and media) rivalry that last year moved to the WNBA with excellent results for the professional league. It was the Magic Johnson-Larry Bird duel in its female version.
And the effect of that rivalry is already beginning to be felt next season. The WNBA has already announced the schedule for the 2025 season, and on Opening Night, there will be an Indiana Fever vs Chicago Sky, or in other words, a Clark vs Reese.
The game is scheduled for May 17, 2025, in Indianapolis, and although the two teams will meet at least five times throughout the regular season, it has already generated a lot of excitement. So much so that tickets have already reached exorbitant prices.
To watch that game, a fan will have to spend $271 (official price without resale), which is as incredible as the fact that watching that game is more expensive than what it cost to watch the first game of the season for 29 of the 30 NBA teams. Only the Boston Celtics‘ season opener against the New York Knicks cost more than it will cost to see that first Clark – Reese of the season
