The Toronto Raptors’ game against the New York Knicks on Tuesday night drew attention for an unusual reason. Fans at Scotiabank Arena booed during the U.S. national anthem.

However, the atmosphere quickly shifted when the Canadian anthem was performed. Fans then erupted into cheers to honor their own country.

This display may stem from rising tensions over trade policies between Canada and the United States. Over the weekend, U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to implement a 25% tariff on imports from Canada.

Trump later announced a temporary 30-day pause on tariff threats. Nevertheless, Canadian fans are still seemingly disappointed with Trump’s decision.

This wasn’t an isolated incident. Similar boos were heard at Rogers Arena in Vancouver before the Canucks faced the Colorado Avalanche, as well as during last week’s NHL game between the Ottawa Senators and Calgary Flames.

Knicks Defeat Raptors Behind Karl-Anthony Towns’ Dominant Performance

The New York Knicks secured a hard-fought 121-115 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night. Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a double-double, scoring 27 points and grabbing 20 rebounds to seal the win.

Jalen Brunson also contributed significantly, scoring a game-high 28 points along with five assists. Seventeen points supported Mikal Bridges, while Josh Hart added 15 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

Scottie Barnes led with 23 points and five assists on the Raptors’ side. Gradey Dick chipped in 14 points, while J. Shead added 16 points and nine assists in an attempt to keep the game competitive.

The win brings the Knicks to a 34-17 record this season. Meanwhile, the Raptors’ struggles continue, as they fall to 16-34.
