Connor McGregor responds to Jake Paul’s call out after beating Mike Tyson
The former UFC champion was called out earlier today.
Connor McGregor has responded to being called out by Jake Paul earlier today – and it’s fair to say his reply was amusing.
Paul, 27, beat Mike Tyson, 58, by unanimous decision in Arlington, Texas on Friday 15 November.
He danced around the ring in front of the packed Dallas Cowboys’ stadium, with some fans even purchasing tickets worth $2 million to catch a glimpse of the action.
Despite his best efforts, Tyson’s age was evident as he struggled to keep pace with Paul, who is 31 years younger.
The former heavyweight champion soldiered through the eight two-minute rounds but could only land 18 punches compared to Paul’s 78 successful strikes.
However, the convincing victory over the legendary fighter is clearly not enough to satisfy Paul as he called out McGregor under 24 hours after his victory in Texas.
The 27-year-old is seemingly keen to have a boxing/MMA crossover fight with the former UFC double champ.
“Dear Conor, I know you told my team you would fight me at 170lbs,” Paul wrote on X.
“That’s never happening. But let’s run it in MMA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won’t.”
If McGregor were to accept the fight, this would not be the first time he has been involved in a crossover fight – McGregor boxed against Floyd Mayweather in August 2017.
Fans waited for the Irishman’s response, and it did not disappoint.
“Nakisi already rang me, lad, it’s this guy next for you,” McGregor wrote on X.
“Good luck pal.”

The post was accompanied by a photograph of 82-year-old former Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell – presumably a jibe towards Paul fighting several retired/past their best fighters such as Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, Ben Askren and Nate Diaz, to name just a few.
McGregor’s post has since been deleted.
The pair have had a long-running feud for some time, with McGregor voicing his thoughts about Paul in a live stream in the summer of 2024, according to the US Express.
“I hope Mike [Tyson] rattles the little dope, no one gives a f— about him,” said McGregor.
“How is that even in the f——Dallas stadium?”
During the post-fight press conference, Paul gave his thoughts on a potential showdown with the 36-year-old.
“Yeah, he’ll [Conor McGregor] never do that though,” explained Paul.
“He knows. He’s not his own boss. It’s easy to say Conor McGregor doesn’t want to fight Jake Paul, but it’s the f—— truth.
“Look at him go toe to toe with Nate Diaz, who was easy work for me. It was like a Monday sparring session.”
In decades past, a crossover bout seemed almost impossible, but now they happen quite often – with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou even leaving the promotion in order to fight Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury in boxing.
