The rest of the NFL is officially on notice because Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is out for vengeance, just like Spider-Man.

Lamb turned heads when he posted a picture of a black-suited Spider-Man earlier this offseason, but he provided an explanation for the post on Tuesday.

“That’s my favorite superhero,” he said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “He’s entering his villain arc and I’m coming back for vengeance, so that’s what that is.”

Lamb drew comparisons to Spider-Man even before his NFL career, so it comes as no surprise the web-slinger is his favorite superhero. But the timing of the initial post turned heads, as it happened when he was holding out of training camp and waiting for a new contract.

It was easy to speculate it might provide a hint that he wasn’t happy, especially given his other social media post after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters he didn’t see the contract situation as an urgent one:

Fortunately for Cowboys fans, the team and wide receiver finally came to terms on a contract extension.

He agreed to a four-year, $136 million deal on Monday. It featured a $38 million signing bonus, which ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted was a record for a wide receiver.

Lamb now has his money. It’s time to focus on vengeance.
