eBron James was named the Olympic Basketball Championship’s MVP after his performance throughout the entire tournament. He performed at an incredible level consistently at 38 years old. One could argue that LeBron James was equally consistent during the Paris 2024 Olympic games. The seasoned veteran averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 8.5 assists. For the games organizers, that was more than enough to make James the MVP of the entire tournament. But Golden State Warriors fans and LeBron James’ haters united online to claim Stephen Curry had a better performance at the Olympic Games. But let’s analyze that for a bit, shall we?

Was Stephen Curry better than LeBron James at the Olympics?

It is important to note that until the tournament’s semifinals, Stephen Curry had a discrete Olympic Games participation. After starting the Olympics against Serbia with 11 points, fans throught Stephen Curry would improve during the subsequent games. However, he scored only 3 points against South Sudan, 8 points against Puerto Rico, and 7 points against Brazil. While LEBron James never went below double digits, that was the main different between the two. Granted, Curry carried Team USA to the promised land with two of the best performances in Olympic Games history. That’s the main talking point from those who thought Steph deserved the MVP Award.

But LeBron James did also get better stats in rebounds, assists, and blocks compared to Curry. At the end of the day, who got the MVP Award at the Paris 2024 Olympics doesn’t matter. All people will truly care about is who won the Olympic Golde Medal. Fortunately, the two greatest players of the last 20 years won this one together and they both shined. A victory that both of them will be able to tell their grand children about and a moment in history that will hardly be erased from the collective consciousness. There are many memorable images the two of them were able to share with the fans.
