A'ja Wilson knows how to get fans talking.

A’ja Wilson has been the best of the best for a very long time. The 1st overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft, Wilson has won two WNBA MVPs and two WNBA championships while making the All-Star Game in all but one season.

Before she reached the WNBA, Wilson had a storied collegiate career at South Carolina. She was an NCAA champion in 2017 and was named the Player of the Year in 2018. Alongside head coach Dawn Staley and several talented teammates, Wilson helped put the Gamecocks program on the map.

A’ja Wilson called a “freak” for post about South Carolina football team

Wilson continues to keep tabs on how her alma mater does in athletics, but she took it a step too far with her comment on the football team’s big win over Kentucky.

The Gamecocks’ name makes it prone to many jokes. Despite the origin of the word “gamecock“, which refers to a rooster that has been bred for competitive cockfighting, it obviously has a sexual connotation in today’s day and age.

Wilson knew exactly what she was doing when she posted that. Her fans knew it, too. Some even called her a “freak”.
