DETROIT — The Pacers got bad news late in the first quarter. Center James Wiseman, operating in the second unit with usual backup Isaiah Jackson out with a groin strain, was hobbled by a non-contact leg injury. The Pacers quickly ruled Wiseman out with a calf injury.

He had to be helped off the floor, and shortly after he went to the locker room. He walked on his own power but did so gingerly.

“(Wiseman) scored 6 points and it was a 6-point game,” Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said after the game. “He’ll get an MRI (Thursday) and we’ll know more.”

Wiseman, signed as a free agent from the Pistons this offseason, scored six points in less than five minutes before the injury.

Rookie Enrique Freeman replaced Wiseman in the rotation, getting second-quarter minutes in place of Myles Turner.
