Fox News host Jesse Watters shared his mother’s frustration after President Donald Trump’s administration cut federal grants to Johns Hopkins University

On a recent episode of Primetime, Fox News presenter Jesse Watters revealed to his audience that President Donald Trump’s budget cuts had directly impacted his sister’s workplace.

Johns Hopkins University was forced to cut over 2,000 jobs after the White House scrapped $800 million in federal grants. These funds were previously allocated to the renowned medical research institution as part of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s budget, which was drastically reduced under Trump and his close ally Elon Musk.

Ultimately, the university had no choice but to eliminate 1,975 positions across 44 foreign countries and 247 within the U.S..

Despite the significant number of people affected by these cuts, Jesse continued to commend the actions of Trump and Musk. He was joined by guest Ned Ryun, who claimed that federal grant money given to universities is “being used to fund leftists.”

Ryun argued, “And so, you take away that funding, and you begin to take away that pillar,” he said. “And then you look at what’s taking place with the colleges right now. I hope they continue going down this path of not only yanking funding, I hope they go after their endowments.”

He continued, “Most of these colleges and universities are indoctrination centers of higher learning that are churning out leftists. And I think we need to have a really strong look at going after their endowments as well,”.

Watters concluded the segment by sharing his personal connection to the cuts at Johns Hopkins.

“Yeah, I just saw some news that Trump took some grants away from Johns Hopkins, where my sister works,” shared Watters, continuing with: “And now my mom’s upset. She’s texting me. It’s gonna be a whole family thing. So, we’ll have to deal without over the weekend.”

Watters often talks about how his mother is a staunch Democrat, leading to some humorous differences, especially when it comes to family gatherings like Thanksgiving.

In a show aired on November 12, the dedicated Trump advocate disclosed that his own mother didn’t invite him to Thanksgiving because of Kamala Harris’s loss in the presidential race.

The host, known for sharing tales of his spats with his Democrat-supporting mom, Anne, sarcastically noted that liberals were snubbing conservatives from the Thanksgiving table after the Republicans’ victory at the polls.

“Since they can’t stop us, we’re not invited to Thanksgiving,” he joked, following up with: “People are taking some space in the Watters household. I’ll have you know that I wasn’t invited to my mother’s house for Thanksgiving. Apparently, there wasn’t enough room.”
