Paris, France – In a dramatic finale to the athletics program at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi clinched the gold medal in a thrilling men’s 800m race.   

The 20-year-old Kenyan surged ahead in the final meters to claim victory in a time of 1:41.19, just edging out Canada’s Marco Arop who took silver in a new Americas record of 1:41.20. Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati secured bronze in 1:41.50. 

Wanyonyi’s victory was a testament to his exceptional talent and unwavering determination. The race, which was the final track event of the Games, captivated the crowd with its intense pace and dramatic finish.
