Winning a gold medal at the Olympics is historic in and of itself, but the 2024 edition in Paris was particularly special for the U.S. men’s basketball team.

The main reason for that was due to LeBron James and Stephen Curry teaming up for the first time in their legendary careers.

Flanked by fellow superstar Kevin Durant, the three players that marked a generation gave fans an incredible tournament.

James and Curry looked so in-sync throughout the competition that it had tons of fans wondering if we could possibly see them team up on an NBA squad if the opportunity presents itself before their imminent retirements.

It’s still a longshot, but Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report has come out with a trade proposal to make it happen.

Steph Curry joins Lakers in hypothetical trade

In his trade scenario, Curry would join the Los Angeles Lakers. It would involve four different teams.

Lakers: Stephen Curry, Day’Ron Sharpe, Wendell Moore Jr.
Warriors: Austin Reaves, Ben Simmons, 2029 first round pick (via Lakers), 2031 first round pick (via Lakers)
Nets: D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Jalen Hood-Schifino
Pistons: Dennis Schroder, Christian Wood, 2025 second round pick (via Lakers), 2025 second round pick (via Nets)

While some considered the trade realistic, a good amount of fans were not as kind. From calling it “not a serious article” to dubbing the writer a “Lakers fanboy“, it’s clear any type of hypothetical trade will be met with criticism. That goes to show how difficult it is to pull one off in real life.
