Five people charged over Liam Payne’s death, including close friend and Argentinian multimillionaire businessman Rogelio Nores
Five people, including a close friend and several hotel staff, have reportedly been charged over the death of One Direction star Liam Payne in Argentina.
Five people have reportedly been charged in connection with the death of British singer Liam Payne in Argentina, including his multimillionaire businessman and friend Rogelio ‘Roger’ Nores.
The former One Direction star, 31, died on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of his room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires.
An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be multiple trauma and internal and external haemorrhages.

On Sunday, Argentinian outlet Infobae reported that 24-year-old waiter Braian Paiz and 21-year-old CasaSur staff member Ezequiel Pereyra were charged and ordered into custody.
Both men face charges of supplying narcotics, which carries a sentence of four to 15 years in prison.

The charges were filed by Criminal and Correctional Court No. 34, presided over by Judge Laura Graciela Bruniard.
Earlier in the month, Paiz admitted to partying with the ‘Teardrops’ singer two days before his death but denied receiving payment for drugs.
Meanwhile, Nores, a multimillionaire Argentinian businessman and close friend of Payne’s, has reportedly been charged with negligent homicide.

Nores’ assets were “embargoed” for 50 million pesos, and he has been prohibited from leaving Argentina, though no arrest warrant has been issued, the publication reported.
The businessman, who made his fortune in the energy industry, claimed he left the hotel approximately an hour before the singer’s fall.
“I never abandoned Liam, I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened,” he told MailOnline in November.
“There were over 15 people at the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him when I left.

“I could have never imagined something like this would happen.”
Describing Payne as a “dear friend”, Nores said: “I’ve been missing my friend every day”.
It’s understood that Nores and Payne met at a dinner party hosted by Vogue in 2020, and remained close friends since.
The businessman, however, was reportedly not invited to Payne’s funeral in Amersham, England, on November 20.
CasaSur hotel managers Gilda Agustina Martín and Esteban Grassi have also reportedly been charged with manslaughter.
Prosecutors allege that their response to Payne’s mental health crisis on the day of his death was negligent.
