Liam Payne’s grave could have security ’round the clock’ over fears people will ‘take’ items
As people journey to Amersham, Buckinghamshire, to pay tribute to the late One Direction member Liam Payne, church authorities are reportedly considering stringent measures like round-the-clock security over fears people will pilfer the items from his grave.
Liam Payne tragically passed away in October after he fell from a balcony in the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. His funeral was held Wednesday with a host of celebrity names in attendance, including his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
Liam Payne’s grave could be manned by security guards
The quiet town of Amersham will no doubt see increased traffic in the near future as people seek to pay respect to Liam Payne following his death last month, something which is still being investigated by police.
With millions of followers on social media and a huge fanbase from his time in the music industry, it’s only a matter of time before those people seek out St Mary’s church which was adorned with autumnal floral arrangements for the service. But, according to a report from RadarOnline, that might become increasingly difficult as the site plans to dial up security.
Speaking to the publication, a source claimed: “The church authorities are braced for an army of fans who are set to descend on Liam’s final resting place. There is bound to be a lot of interest in the first few weeks and there is a worry that devotees will be tempted to take items left in honor of Liam.”
Though the presence of security guards will give Liam’s family and friends the chance to grieve without the fear of his grave being tampered with, the site won’t be manned indefinitely.
“There is talk of manning the spot with a couple of round-the-clock security guards, at least for the first couple of weeks while interest quietens and things get back to ‘normal’. The last thing his grieving family needs is the prospect of grave robbers rearing their ugly heads,” the insider added.
Vigils were held across the country after Liam Payne’s death
Following the tragic news last month, One Direction fans held candlelight vigils across the country as they laid band memorabilia, records, and personal photographs with the star at various key locations. TikTok and Instagram soon became filled with videos of people attending events where some of Liam’s songs were sung and played in tribute.
