Patrick Mahomes finally gives in and reveals what Chiefs fans have been dying to know

Pretty much all Patrick Mahomes has done since entering the NFL is win. He’s won the biggest prizes the sport has to offer — Super Bowls, regular-season MVP awardsOffensive Player of the Year honors — and is poised to continue leading the Kansas City Chiefs to important victories for the rest of the 2020s.

Mahomes also seems to make all the right moves off the field. He has two children with his wife Brittany and a host of sponsorships and endorsement deals on top of his $45 million annual salary with the Chiefs. The two-time NFL champion is also a skillful at the political side of the game, as he revealed in a recent interview.

Mahomes’ favorite player is no surprise

Shortly before they were spotted with their significant others at the US Open in New York, Mahomes sat down with Subway‘s social media team to do a rapid-fire Q&A with a fast-food company whose brand he has long endorsed. When asked about his favorite current NFL player, the two-time NFL MVP had his choice ready to go: his All-Pro teammate, tight end Travis Kelce.

It comes as no surprise that Mahomes picked Kelce, with no hesitation to boot. After all, who else could Mahomes possibly trust to catch the ridiculous behind-the-back pass he pulled off in the Chiefs’ preseason? It could only be Kelce — who was already a high-level tight end before Mahomes took over under center in 2018 but saw his game hit Hall of Fame levels after.

Back in January, Mahomes and Kelce passed Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski as the most prolific quarterback-tight end duo in the history of the NFL playoffs. The pair then proceeded to lead the Chiefs past the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, clinching their second consecutive Super Bowl title and their third since 2019.

Entering their seventh season together, Kelce and Mahomes are keen to secure their spot in NFL lore by pulling off a Super Bowl three-peat — a feat no team in league history has ever accomplished. Oddsmakers learned their lesson in 2023 and are regarding the Chiefs — buoyed by the inimitable camaraderie between Mahomes and Kelce — as favorites to win it all again in 2024.
