Denmark players began celebrating with time left on the clock
Team GB star Jack Carlin crashed out of the Keirin in track cycling while weightlifting, basketball and the modern pentathlon all took place.

The Men’s handball final also took place between Germany and the champions from the Tokyo Games, Denmark.

Handball is hugely popular in France and while the women’s team won silver, the men’s side lost to Germany in the quarter-final.

So many were disappointed to see the final end with a whimper as both sides stopped playing with time left on the clock.

Denmark dominated the contest and led 39-26, meaning both sides knew their fate.

Germany started passing the ball around with the opposition rooted to the spot and not even attempting to stop them as Denmark knew they had the gold wrapped up.

Substitute players and coaches began hugging and high-fiving on the touchline, with two players on court also embracing.

That sparked boos from fans in attendance before the Danes began jumping up and down in celebration before the final buzzer sounded.
