Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett express concerns about the Warriors' future

Stephen Curry has added an Olympic gold medal to his already impressive list of accomplishments by triumphing in the Paris Olympics. This victory marks Curry’s first Olympic medal, further enhancing a career that includes four NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors.

Despite this remarkable achievement, there are growing doubts about the Warriors’ prospects for the upcoming NBA season.

On the Ticket & The Truth podcast, former NBA stars Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett expressed concerns about the Warriors’ future. Pierce, in particular, questioned whether the team has what it takes to remain a top contender in the league, especially after significant changes to their roster.

Warriors ain’t going be the same,” Pierce said. “[Curry] is going down with that ship. It’s all legacy. Everything right now for him is icing on the cake.”

One of the most notable shifts this offseason was the departure of Klay Thompson, who signed with the Dallas Mavericks.

Thompson, an integral part of the Warriors’ success over the years, leaves behind a gap that will be difficult to fill. His exit has sparked discussions about how this will affect the team’s dynamic and overall performance.

A period of transition

Kevin Garnett also shared his thoughts, suggesting that Thompson‘s move could have broader implications for Curry’s future with the Warriors.

Garnett speculated that the loss of a key teammate might lead Curry to reevaluate his position with the franchise, particularly as the team enters a period of transition.

“Obviously he wanna win, but if you ain’t got the personnel, you gotta be realistic. They don’t have a championship team right now,” Garnett said.
