Tension filled the air in the Indiana Fever‘s postgame press conference after their confrontational 84-80 victory over major rival Connecticut Sun. Fever star Caitlin Clark spent all game sparring with Alyssa Thomas and DiJonai Carrington, and as she was peppered with questions by reporters postgame, teammate Lexie Hull said something that set her off.

Caitlin Clark cracks in press conference and goes viral

Clark broke character instantly, peeking at Kelsey Mitchell to her left in disbelief to confirm if she heard Hull correctly. Then Clark showed her age and maturity level in her response to Hull’s accidental X-rated message.

“Apparently Caitlin Clark has the mentality of a teenage boy!” said one user on X, formerly Twitter, in response to her childish laughter at the “balls” reference.

“That’s how you know Caitlin has brothers growing up cause that sh*t funny,” another responded.

Social media aligned with the WNBA All-Star in finding Hull’s innocent-yet-dirty words hilarious. One commenter even dished out some advice to Clark’s beloved teammate: “ms mermaid we love but we gotta media train you if u gon play as good as this all the time.”

Lexie Hull steps up for Indiana Fever

Hull finished the game with 17 points and 8 rebounds in 31 minutes. Her emergence in the backcourt alongside Clark and Mitchell has played a key role in Indiana’s 4-1 record since the WNBA returned from the Olympics break.

In those five games, she is averaging 11.4 points per game in 25.4 minutes, up from her season averages of 5.1 and 15.7, respectively. Hull has shot a scorching 14-for-20 (70 percent) on three-pointers in the last five games, and posted her season high of 22 points and six three-pointers against the Seattle Storm.

Clark has also been cooking, setting the WNBA record for three-pointers made in a rookie season against the Sun. When things are clicking like this for Christie Sides‘ team on the court, it allows everyone to loosen up off the court, for better or for worse.
