“Sky Secure Victory Once Reese Stops Chasing Stats”: Everyone is talking about Angel Reese’s reaction to the team’s win. Without Angel Reese, the Chicago Sky cruised past the Dallas Wings effortlessly
Chicago Sky star Angel Reese may be out injured, but that won’t stop her from being the center of attention. Keenly aware of the cameras, her repeated antics on the bench were enough to fill an entire highlight reel showing her commitment to being as obnoxious as possible.
Watch Angel Reese make scene on the Sky bench
Or, in the words of the WNBA superstar, who reposted the video on X: “be prepared to be sick of meeeee.”
While standing out in her black top, Sky blue pants, and wrist brace, the 22-year-old struck a balance between gassing up her teammates and taunting opponents. She got the most animated when celebrating a tough bucket by fellow Chi-Town rookie Kamilla Cardoso.
Will Chicago Sky make WNBA Playoffs?
With Chennedy Carter (28 points) back in the lineup, Chicago picked up a win against Arike Ogunbowale and the lowly Dallas Wings (9-26). Isabelle Harrison filled in nicely for Reese in the front court, finishing with 21 points and 9 rebounds.
The victory gives the Sky a 13-22 overall record, good enough as of Monday for 8th in the WNBA standings and the final spot in the WNBA playoffs. Chicago has five games left to hold off the Atlanta Dream (12-23) and Washington Mystics (11-24).
They play each team once in the stretch run, but will have to find the way without Reese, who announced she will miss the remainder of the season with the wrist injury.
Staying positive off the court
Reese has not let her injury get her down. She remains as engaged as ever on the bench during games, and when she goes home, she’s still got her new podcast, Unapologetically Angel, and the new Unrivaled basketball league to look forward to.
“All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so,” Reese wrote in an emotional Instagram post announcing her season was over.
“I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next. Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break.”
