Where will Taylor Swift be in the CLE this weekend, if anywhere? We have thoughts
Is Taylor Swift entering her “Cleveland Era” now that her two-year-long Eras Tour has ended? Buzz across the city is deafening and we’re finding it hard to “Shake it Off.”
With hometown hero-beau Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs arriving to battle our Cleveland Browns this Sunday, Swifties all over Northeast Ohio hoping to catch a glimpse are wondering: will she be hanging out in town? Enjoying the dining, nightlife and entertainment on a date? Holiday shopping?
Or will it be a “Cleveland Era: Taylor’s Version,” whereby she slips in and out of cold, clammy, cloudy CLE after a couple French Blondes and cheering her Chiefs in a Huntington Bank Field luxury box?
It’s her 35th birthday weekend and except for Kelce and various sundry members of the “Tortured Poets Department” inner circle, only Taylor really knows for sure. But should you venture out in hopes of catching her specter, there are some bets on where she could land:
Have a Merry Little Swiftmas: Swift and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame have had an interesting relationship since 2007, when then-budding pop star held a free concert there. The Rock Hall has a Saturday of holiday-inspired Swiftie fun for Swift’s birthday (which is Dec. 13) with Rob Sheffield and Annie Zaleski on hand to sign their Swift books, a trivia contest and artifacts from Taylor’s closet.
Sora Brunch in the Flats: Remember when the BBC’s Graham Norton gathered a group of Adele impersonators and tribute performers for a (fake) “My Adele” contest/show? This Flats hotspot will have a gameday brunch buffet with themed drinks, pop-up shops and friendship bracelet making and more will also give a prize to the customer with the best Swift-inspired outfit.
Brewnuts in Gordon Square: The lauded donuts-and-beer hotspot is known for their specialty menus. They have an all-Taylor bill of fare happening this weekend. Their “Taylor Fest: Brewnuts’ Version” is a “Love Story” and promises Swift-inspired “dones” and drinks sure to be delicious and sell out fast. They have a “Reputation,” after all. Look what you made them do, Taylor!
Coventry Village closure: It may be a reach, or a “Love Story,” but Coventry Village’s Facebook group posted on Tuesday that they’re “closing the street” from 4:30 – 6 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 14) with the tease that it “could be for the beautiful lantern festival parade… or could be so Travis and Taylor… can have a date night around his old stomping grounds… Big Fun and Tommy’s.” Hmmm.
Swift could land at any, all or none of these. All we know is that she’s been the talk of the town since rumors of her relationship with NFL star and Cleveland Heights native Kelce began.
Swifties of all ages had something hilarious and warm to say about the power couple at the opening of Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” concert film at Cinemark in Valley View. The post has a whopping 30,145 likes, 258 comments and 979 shares — and more than 650,000 views.
As for skipping Cleveland on her “Eras Tour,” we hope Taylor sees there’s no “Bad Blood.”
We’re ready for one or more of her legendary “rain shows” (see Foxborough and Nashville) anytime.
