Taylor Swift Spends $250K in Kansas City Nonprofit—But There’s a Heartwarming Twist You Didn’t See Coming

After visiting Children’s Mercy, Taylor Swift is continuing to impact the Kansas City community during this holiday season.

The global superstar made a $250,000 donation to Operation Breakthrough, a nonprofit that helps families in the city’s urban core. The organization made the announcement on its social media pages Saturday, which featured several kids thanking Taylor for her support.

Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, also has a connection to Operation Breakthrough. His foundation, 87 and Running, helped fund the nonprofit’s Ignition Lab in 2021.

More recently, a group of kids involved with the nonprofit helped refurbish a 1969 Chevelle SS into a fully electric vehicle, which he then drove to a home game.

According to its website, Operation Breakthrough provides a safe, loving, and educational environment for children in poverty and empowers their families through advocacy, emergency aid, and education.

They care for more than 700 children between six weeks and 18 years of are every week. More than 70% of the families they help live on less than $12,000 a year. Volunteer opportunities are available and donations are always welcome.

The generous quarter-million-dollar donation came a little more than a week after Swift visited patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital near downtown, where she spent one-on-one time with several children by signing autographs, making TikTok videos, and speaking with their families.

Swift was also in attendance for The Kansas City Chiefs week 16 win against the Houston Texans just hours before the announcement was made.
