The Heartbreaking Story Of Fox News Host Ainsley Earhardt
Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt has built a career as a strong, confident journalist. But behind the camera, she has faced deep personal struggles, from infertility and miscarriage to divorce and the devastating loss of her mother.
A Painful Journey to Motherhood
For Earhardt, family has always been a priority. When she and her husband, William Proctor, settled in New York, she dreamed of having children. She initially hoped for four, but as time passed, she realized that balancing her career and age meant she would likely have just one.
Conceiving proved more difficult than expected. In an essay for Women’s Health, Earhardt shared how heartbreaking it was to see others easily get pregnant while she struggled. Every baby stroller, every pregnancy announcement felt like a reminder of what she couldn’t have.
After months of disappointment, she finally became pregnant. Her first ultrasound filled her with joy as she heard her baby’s heartbeat. But at the next appointment, everything changed. The doctor couldn’t find a heartbeat.
“I had to have an operation to remove my lifeless baby,” she wrote. “I remember crying because I didn’t want them to take her away from me.”
The loss devastated her. Everywhere she turned, she saw happy mothers with their babies. But she refused to give up. Eventually, she became pregnant again and welcomed a healthy baby girl in 2018.
A Broken Marriage
Just as she embraced motherhood, her marriage fell apart. After six years together, Earhardt and Proctor announced their separation.
In a statement, she said, “After much prayer and careful consideration, Will and I have separated.”
The next day, Proctor filed for divorce. He insisted there was “not one ounce of truth” to rumors of infidelity, but reports suggested otherwise. Despite the pain, Earhardt focused on co-parenting and maintaining stability for their daughter.
A Mother’s Strength, A Daughter’s Loss
As if the pain of infertility and divorce wasn’t enough, Earhardt’s world was shaken again when her mother, Dale Earhardt, suffered a severe stroke.
Dale had battled kidney disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. The stroke left her unable to breathe, speak, eat, or walk. Doctors feared she wouldn’t recover.
Miraculously, Dale fought her way back. But the pandemic brought new fears. Earhardt worried about her mother’s weakened immune system and the risks of frequent hospital visits. She urged her to take precautions, knowing how dangerous the virus could be.
In 2022, Earhardt lost her mother.
On air, she held back tears as she paid tribute. “We’re just grateful that we know her faith was strong. We know where she is.”
She recalled how her mother had always put family first, always looked for ways to serve others.
“I’m so proud to call her mom, and I am so proud to be her daughter,” she said, her voice breaking.
Finding Strength in Faith
Through every hardship, Earhardt has leaned on her faith. She has faced devastating loss, but she continues to move forward, raising her daughter and embracing each challenge with resilience.
Her story is one of heartbreak, but also one of unwavering strength.
