“I Can’t”: UnitedHealthcare CEO Was Actually Separated from Wife During Shocking Midtown Manhattan Incident – Has the Assailant Planned for This?

Brian Thompson, 50, was in town for an investor conference when he was fatally shot

The UnitedHealthcare CEO who was gunned down in midtown Manhattan was separated from his wife at the time of his murder, according to a report.

Brian Thompson, 50,  and his wife, Paulette Thompson, 51, were living in separate homes in Maple Grove, Minn., and had been for years, the Wall Street Journal reports.

In 2018, Brian Thompson bought a second house for $1 million close to where his wife and sons were living, according to the WSJ.

Brian Thompson was shot just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, as he was heading to an investor conference for UnitedHealthcare’s parent company at the New York Hilton Midtown.

His killer was seen on video shooting him from behind and then shooting him again after he had fallen on the ground near the hotel. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The gunman then fled on an electric Citi Bike. Police are still searching for him.

Paulette told NBC News that Brian had been receiving threats, but still went ahead with his trip to New York City.

“Yes, there had been some threats basically I don’t know, a lack of coverage? I don’t know details,” Paulette told NBC News  “I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him.”

She declined to comment further, saying, “I can’t really give a thoughtful response right now,” she told NBC News. “I just found this out and I’m trying to console my children.”

Later, in a text message to local station FOX 9, Paulette wrote, “We are shattered to hear about the senseless killing of our beloved Brian. Brian was an incredibly loving, generous, talented man who truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives.

“Most importantly, Brian was an incredibly loving father to our two sons and will be greatly missed. We appreciate your well wishes and request complete privacy as our family moves through this difficult time.”

Paulette, who goes by Pauley, works as a therapist at Park Nicollet Health Services in Minneapolis.

On Instagram, she wrote, “I love spending time with my two boys and taking them to all of their activities. I also love boating, spending time with family and friends, playing piano, biking, and traveling.”
